Psalmix Scope & Sequence

Psalmix teaches memory work through music: the facts a student has to know cold (times tables, spelling rules, the water cycle, the Bill of Rights, Scripture) written as songs they replay for fun. This is the full sequence, with what each song drills and how it lines up to published standards.

Complete sequence: 291 songs across 8 subjects, grades K–12. 285 stream today; the remaining 6 are in production, and every row below says which.

Standard alignment

Codes shown are Common Core State Standards, mapped at the strand level and each one checked against its published text. Utah adopted its K–12 Math and English Language Arts Core Standards from the Common Core in 2010, so these codes have direct Utah Core counterparts. Science and social studies rows show a plain-language descriptor and no code, because no published code exists at this grain.

How families use it

Most families use Psalmix as supplemental memory work alongside their main curriculum: a subject in the car, at breakfast, or on repeat during chores. Grade bands are guidance, not gates. Every song is in one library the whole family can reach.

Status

Every row says whether it is available now or in production. Status is read straight from the live Psalmix catalog, so a song's label changes on its own as it goes live.

A simple, powerful learning journey.

From first listen
to lasting recall.

Psalmix songs are more than music — they’re memorable, meaningful learning moments. Each song is crafted to introduce an idea, reinforce it through repetition, and help your child use what they’ve learned in real life.

  1. Hear it

Original songs introduce key concepts in a natural, engaging way.

  2. Sing it

Repetition through music helps information stick.

  3. Use it

Kids make connections and apply what they’ve learned in everyday life.

Published research

Why the material
is set to music.

Published research on music-based learning, not a trial of Psalmix’s catalog.

  • Children aged 9–11 recalled 11.4 of 15 words when the list was sung to them, against 8.4 when it was spoken. Knott & Thaut, 2018
  • Adults who sang new Hungarian phrases recalled them better than adults who spoke them. Ludke, Ferreira & Overy, 2014

Why the material is set to music

Published findings on music-based learning. These are studies of singing and school music generally, not of Psalmix. We have not run a trial of our own catalog.

  • 73% recalled word for word. Adults who had watched a televised song of the Preamble as children could still write back 73% of its 52 words exactly, against 17% for adults who had rarely seen it. Asked to recall it, the ones who sang it produced 37.9 words; the ones who recited it, 8.6. Calvert & Tart, Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, 1993. Verbatim recall, years after childhood exposure; scored word by word.
  • 11.4 words vs 8.4. Children aged 9–11 recalled 11.4 of 15 words when the list was sung to them, against 8.4 when the same list was spoken, and they still held that lead after a delay. Knott & Thaut, Frontiers in Education, 2018. Randomised controlled trial; n = 32; large effect (d > 0.85).
  • #1 of 3 methods. Adults learning new Hungarian phrases either spoke them, chanted them in rhythm, or sang them. Singing beat both, including the rhythm-only version, which points at the melody rather than just the beat. Ludke, Ferreira & Overy, Memory & Cognition, 2014. Randomised experiment; n = 60; significant at p < .05.

Psalmix is an educational software subscription. Whether a particular scholarship or education savings account can be used for it depends on your program's rules and your own approval; this document does not make that determination.
