FROM OUR FOUNDER

How our music is made

Music that sounds like today and shares your values — here’s exactly how we make it.

Hi — I’m McKinzie. I’m a homeschool mom of three, and I built Psalmix because of a moment most parents will recognize: a song comes on, the beat is great, the kids are dancing — and then a lyric lands that makes you lunge for the skip button.

I didn’t want filtered music. I didn’t want music that sounds ten years behind. I wanted both — current sound, our values — and I couldn’t find it anywhere. So we started making it.

Where every song starts

1. It starts with a theme worth singing about

Hope, joy, friendship, faith, growing up, marriage, hard days that turn around. We write toward themes families actually live — not a sanitized version of someone else’s catalog.

2. The lyrics are written and rewritten

Lyrics go through multiple drafting and review passes for craft — rhyme, rhythm, meaning, singability — and for values. If a line doesn’t clear both bars, it gets rewritten or cut.

3. Modern AI production tools bring it to life

Here’s the part we’ll always be upfront about: we use AI music production tools to perform and produce our songs. It’s how a team our size makes music that sounds like it came out of a major studio — the same reason an indie artist records at home instead of renting Abbey Road. The values, the words, and the standards are ours. The technology is the instrument.

4. People decide what makes the cut

We review songs before they reach the catalog and classify every one by theme and maturity level — Universal, Teen, Young Adult, Adult — so the music fits your family at every life stage. Plenty of songs never make it in. The catalog is curated, not generated-and-dumped.

Why we tell you this upfront

Because trust is the entire product.

You’re not choosing Psalmix because of how the music is made — you’re choosing it because of what the music says and how it sounds. But you deserve to know both, plainly, from us. No fine print, no dodge. A few things we will always be straight about:

  • Our songs are made with AI production tools. We don’t invent fake artist personas or pretend there’s a band behind each track.

  • Our lyrics and standards are human-led. The values are not delegated to an algorithm.

  • Every song is reviewed and classified so it matches your family’s values and your kids’ ages.

  • If we ever get one wrong, tell us. A song that slipped past our standards gets fixed or pulled. That’s a promise.

Why families choose Psalmix

  • It sounds like now. Current production quality across the genres your family already loves — pop, country, worship, and more. No more choosing between quality and values.

  • No skip-button anxiety. Clean lyrics and positive themes across thousands of songs — every one reviewed for values alignment.

  • Music for every age in the house. Maturity-level classification means your 6-year-old and your 16-year-old both have music that fits — without you policing it.

  • Made by a family that gets it. We’re not a corporation bolting a “kids mode” onto an app built for someone else. Psalmix was built for families like ours, from the first song.

The short version

We write songs around the values your family lives by, craft the lyrics through draft after draft, produce them with modern AI music tools, and review what we publish. Music that sounds like today and shares your values — that’s the whole idea.
